Think

Here are some thoughts to ponder:

1. What is your responsibility if you know an animal is being abused or neglected? Look the other way because it is not your animal? Hope it gets better? Hope someone else will report or stop it?
2. Compared to a human life, an animal life takes second place. But what worth do animals really have to us? Are they nice to have around for companionship only? Are they irreplaceable members of our families? Are they after all, just “animals”?
3. What price are you willing to pay to save an animal’s life? Monetarily, emotionally, and physically?
4. Are animals living beings, or just non-emotional “things”? Do animal’s have feelings and desires just like we have?
5. And finally, do we have a hippocratic oath when it comes to animals? To do no harm? And if the answer is yes, what are you doing to save a life?

Discuss.

What Further Proof Do You Need?

This is just one more example of the cruelty man perpetrates against animals. Defenseless animals who deserve to live just as much as the assholes who can do these things. Sorry for the harsh language, but there isn’t a better word for people who can commit this type of cruelty and still sleep at night. In fact, there are a whole lot worse, more appropriate words I can use, but what’s the point?

I don’t understand this type of cruelty, and I don’t understand how anyone, in good conscience, can continue to support this type of cruelty. And make no mistake, if you drink animal milk, and if you continue to eat farm animals (or any animals for that matter), you not only support this type of senseless violence, but condone it.

While there are those who deceive themselves into believing that animals can be raised on a farm and humanely killed, the vast majority of people just don’t care. It has been proven over and over again that we do not need slabs of charred animal flesh, or the milk they produce for their offspring, to survive.

We don’t need to continue to raise animals on factory farms just so we can condemn them to live lives of hopelessness and despair. And by the way, if you think I am being melodramatic, watch a cow whose baby boy has been ripped from her care at only a few hours old simply because he was unfortunate to be born male. Or watch the distress in the eyes of a sow who cannot even spend more than a few days with her newborn piglets before they are whisked off to be turned into machines just like their mothers. Or explain how it is okay to grind up a newly hatched baby chick because he will never be able to produce an egg.

It is to our shame as human beings that we allow these practices to continue. And if you think that the case in the video below is an isolated incident by one or two bad people, you’re wrong. They were just lucky enough to get caught. With no facts to back it up, I can guarantee you, that this is just one account. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of companies that all do the same thing.

Think about that when you slather steak sauce on that hunk of animal flesh tonight. Or hear the sizzle of that pig in your skillet in the morning.

Another Victory for Animals!

New Blog

I work part-time at SARA Sanctuary in Seguin, Texas, and I have started a new blog for them. Check it out at sarasanctuary.wordpress.com!

Cold Drink Anyone?

Recently, our old, old, old dear friend the refrigerator/freezer at SARA Sanctuary, went Belly Up. Kaput. Deader n’ a Doornail. Adios. Bye-bye Now. And yes, CPR was tried, and so were other life saving techniques. But really, have you ever tried the Heimlich Maneuver on a refrigerator/freezer? Can’t be done. Uh-uh.

So, we need another one. Do you, or does someone you know, have an old but decent one lying around they aren’t using? One they wouldn’t mind donating? Or even a brand new one? It’s for a good cause (obviously). AND, the gift would be tax-deductible! And more importantly, good karma would ensue.

If you know of anyone that can help, please send an e-mail message to I Can Help!

Thanks, and stay cool out there!
